It seems that over the years insurance commercials have gained a reputation of being notoriously bad.  The first ludicrous commercial that I can think of is of these two very bad actresses getting into a fender bender and I giant bird, well actually a man in a bird suit, lands on top of the offending vehicles and lays an egg.  He says "I've got something for you" and the eggs pops open to show a baby bird holding a fee schedule.  It has been many years since I've seen that one but it seems like I see Mayhem every day of my recent life.

Mayhem started of as pretty funny.  Mayhem has been a teenage girl, he has been a jogger, a raccoon and even a killer of blindspots.  However lately, he has become pretty annoying.  We all know the dangers of driving are very real and most of us now the penalties for driving without insurance can be pretty strict.  Don't get me wrong, Dean Winters is pretty hilarious most o the time.  However, other times he is bordering on being downright obnoxious.

So this makes me wonder who Allstate's target audience is.  It seems that people who enjoy Mayhem a little too much may not need to be on the roads very often.  I cannot see a mature and responsible driver being called to action by those commercials.  They are definitely an attention getter though.  I wonder what Mayhem will be up to next.  I recently noticed that Mayhem has his very own Facebook page.  Maybe he's open to suggestions.
