  • Bear Steals Car for a Joy Ride

    car criticcar criticMaybe the bears in Colorado are smarter than the average bear? Maybe they are just curiouser?

    The Associated Press reported --" A bear got into an empty car, honked the horn and then sent it rolling 125 feet into a thicket, with the bear still inside -- The bear managed to open the unlocked door of his 2008 Toyota Corolla early Friday and climbed inside. A peanut butter sandwich left on the back seat is probably what attracted the bear."

    Peanut butter sandwich, huh? I wonder if this bear watches television? Could it be too much Yogi Bear?

  • A hug is better than chocolate! Part 3

    We were now considering several options.  Jake was making phone calls to the people that he works with, letting them know the circumstances and that he might not be in to work.  One person suggested that his boss's mechanic may be able to diagnose it for free, if he brought the car to Bellevue.  The question was:  Is he a certified mechanic that the state would recognize for fixing emissions?  I was going through the list of certified Pierce co. auto repair shops, calling them and getting an idea of what was needed to be done to the car, and the cost.

  • A hug is better than chocolate! Part 1

    Today was a rather stressful, but fulfilling day.  We have a fine young man (Jake, a friend of John's) living with us and he just bought a car on Saturday from friends of ours in Port Townsend.  This was the day set aside to get him his own car insurance and get the title of the car transferred into his name, along with new tabs.

    How does this relate to weight management?  In every way!  If we can survive stress and stay on target in our diet, we're on our way to becoming the thinner me!  I'm afraid I didn't do well today.

  • Toyota Attempted To Silence American Scientist

    GilbertGilbertBack at the time before its massive recall of its killer motor vehicles, Toyota attempted to silence an American scientist who discovered a possible flaw in the auto company's design, that was causing some Toyota's cars to accelerate suddenly, causing accidents which killed and injured people around the world. David Gilbert of Southern Illinois University was attacked by Toyota. The company questioned his research and even, according to the Associated Press, questioned whether he should be employed by the university, "which has long been a recipient of company donations."
