Water Pump 4cyl? You can

Water Pump 4cyl? You can remove the water pump without taking the timing belt cover off but it is more difficult. The pipe assy is removed after the pump is off and installed in the new pump if not supplied.

Thanks for the tip. I finally

Thanks for the tip. I finally got it off, without removeing the timeing belt cover. What threw me was the extender pipe that fits inside the water pump. It only uses an O ring for a seal. It was this extender pipe that I could not initially separate from the water pump.
The pump has been replaced and everything is fine now. Thank you for the help

It was this extender pipe that I could not initially separate from the water pump. The Extender pipe (or diverter pipe) allows the heater core and the radiator to connect into one pipe. It is threaded through an opening between the engine and the alternator.
