Honda Civic LX - Overheating
I have a '94 Honda Civic with 165K miles. It starts to overheat when driving but when then the gauge goes down when stopped. All fluids have been topped off and the thermostat replaced, but still does it. Non-Honda dealer said that they think the head ga$ket could have problems and is plugging up the combustion chamber not allowing the coolant to flow through the engine. I asked about the radiator, but no response. Am I getting my chain yanked or could this be a legitimate explanation for what is going on? I've never had problems with the car in the past and it's been running perfectly fine until today. HELP!!! I can't afford a new car!

Sounds like the water pump or
Sounds like the water pump or possibly the rad, don't fall for the head gasket unless they do a pressure test to see if leaking water into he cylinder or pressure into the rad. Good luck.. Pat.
With that high mileage it is
With that high mileage it is possible that it could be a head gasket problem but even if it is you have to replace the radiator anyway. If the head gasket is blown than the radiator is blown too. Replace the radiator and if the problem persists than the gasket is blown.
